Early Winter in New South Wales

Two weeks into winter and we have been enjoying some delightfully warm days, with clear blue skies, just right for enjoying the outdoors.

Close to home is the Georges River National Park where my favourite bush walks are the Ridge Track and the Yeramba (Lagoon) Loop Track. The tracks are undulating with a lot or rock-hopping over sandstone boulders and outcrops. The Ridge Track has some spectacular views from high above the river that it follows for a couple of kilometres.

Among the rugged predominantly eucalyptus bush are various winter wild flowers that provide wonderful displays.

Wattle (acacia)
Banksia

About 200 kilometres south of Sydney is another of my favourite places, the Jervis Bay National Park. This is more of a sandy area with quite different flora. One delight vision was this little gem.

As pleasant as these wild flowers are, there is still a lot of enjoyment in one’s back yard in the late autumn / early winter colours.

Camellia and Chinese Pistachio
